What to Expect When You Write
We read everything. Response time depends on what you send, because a reported calculation error gets re-derived from the source formula before we reply.

Reporting a Calculation Problem
Accuracy reports are the most valuable messages we get, and a good one saves several rounds of email. If you can, include:
- The page URL — several calculators cover similar ground in different units, and the fix differs.
- The exact values you entered, including the units you assumed.
- The result you got and the result you expected.
- Where your expected figure came from — a textbook, a manufacturer datasheet, a dyno printout or another calculator.
- Your device and browser, if the tool behaved oddly rather than returning a wrong number.
Point 4 matters more than it looks. A large share of reported "errors" turn out to be a difference in assumptions rather than arithmetic — metric horsepower against mechanical horsepower, a wheel figure against a crankshaft figure, or a nominal capacity class against a measured output. Knowing your source lets us tell you which of those is in play.
Our Corrections Policy
We would rather be corrected than be wrong, and we publish on that basis:
- Formulas come from established engineering references, not from other calculator websites, and each tool states the exact constants it uses.
- Every calculator is tested against known pairs before publishing — 400 lb-ft at 5,252 rpm must return exactly 400 hp, and 1 kW must return 1.34102209 hp.
- Estimates are labeled as estimates. Where a figure depends on an assumption — drivetrain loss, motor efficiency, hull form, dyno correction — the page says so and gives the range rather than pretending to a precision it does not have.
- Confirmed errors are fixed at the source, not quietly patched, and the accuracy note on the page is updated to match.
- We do not remove unflattering corrections. If a tool was wrong, the fix stands on the record.
What We Cannot Help With
To save you time, a few things are outside what an online calculator can responsibly do:
- Diagnosing a specific vehicle or installation remotely. We can explain what a figure means; we cannot tell you why your particular engine is down on power.
- Sign-off on electrical, structural or safety work. Motor circuit sizing in particular must be designed and verified by a licensed electrician against the code edition adopted in your jurisdiction.
- Valuing, buying or tuning recommendations for specific products. We do not review or endorse parts.
- Guaranteeing a dyno result. Our estimates are planning figures, not warranties of output.
Safety note: Our calculators give estimates for planning and learning. For decisions involving vehicle safety, high-boost tuning, electrical installation, or structural load, consult a qualified professional and verify figures independently — don't rely on an online estimate alone.
